Museumsarekeycontributorstothewellbeingandtothesustainabledevelopmentofourcommunities.Astrustedinstitutionsandimportantthreadsinoursharedsocialfabric,theyareuniquelyplacedtocreateacascadingeffecttofosterpositivechange.TherearemanywaysinwhichmuseumscancontributetoachievetheSustainableDevelopmentGoals:fromsupportingclimateactionandfosteringinclusivity,totacklingsocialisolationandimprovingmentalhealth.
AshighlightedintheICOMResolution“OnsustainabilityandtheimplementationofAgenda2030,TransformingourWorld”(Kyoto,2019),allmuseumshavearoletoplayinshapingandcreatingsustainablefutures,andtheycandothisthrougheducationalprogrammes,exhibitions,communityoutreachandresearch.
