Thispaperdiscussesthecurrent,developingandfutureimpactthattheincursionofcontractlawishavinguponlibrarypractices,relationshipsandroles.Contractlawassertsitselfintolibrarypracticeintheguiseofalicense,orcontractualformofpermissionforcontentorservices.Informationexchangesbasedincreasinglyoncontractandlicenseimpactnotonlylibrariesandsimilarinstitutionsbutalsoindividualmembersofthesocietythatthelibraryserves.
Whiletheliteraturecontainsvariousstudiesintotheinformationneedsandinformation-seekingbehaviourofLGBTQ-identifiedlibrarypatrons,thereisonlyonewhichexaminesthespecificinformationneedsofLGBTQhealthprofessionalsandtheiruseoflibrarians.Thiscurrentresearchprojectaimstofillthisgapintheliterature.Theauthorsreporttheresultsandsubsequentanalysisofaninternationalweb-basedsurveyofLGBTQhealthprofessionals,withadditionaldatagatheredfromsemi-structuredfollow-upinterviews.
In2003,BrazilproposeduniversalresolutionagainstLGBT'sdiscriminationtotheUnitedNations(UN).Onlyin2011,UNdeclared"zerotolerance"againstanyformofdiscriminationorviolencebasedonsexualorientationtomembercountries.Since90's,BrazilianLGBTcommunityhadmajorinfluencetodeveloppublicpolicieswithinsociety.BraziltookalongjourneytoreachpromotioninclusiongoalsofBrazilianProgram“BrazilwithoutHomophobia”.
InJanuary2012wedecidedtomakeamajorcommitmenttolesbian,gay,bisexual,transgenderandqueer(LGBTQ)issuesattheUmeCityLibrary.WearegoingtotellyoualittleaboutthesituationforLGBTQpeopleandwhywehavelaunchedthisinitiativeandhowweattheUmeCityLibraryhaveworkedwithTheRainbowLibraryonthewebandonFacebook,andwithTheRainbowBookshelf.
“WemustcreateahomeforourLGBTyouth.Thishomeisaninnerandouterdwellingwherelifeisunderstoodandrespectedinasafeplacewithinmainstreamculture”(Goldman,2008,Introduction,p.xxvii).ThenumbersofhomelessyouthintheUnitedStatesaredaunting.
InrecentyearsthegeographicstateofTennesseeintheUnitedStateshasacquiredanationalnotorietyandshamefulreputationasatoxicplaceonissuesofsexandgender(Mehra2011;MehraandBraquet,inpress;MehraandBraquet,2011;MehraandBraquet,2007a,2007b;MehraandBraquet,2006),especiallyowingtotheinfamous“Don’tSayGay”billthatthankfullydiedaseconddeathwhenlawmakersfailedtopassthemeasurebanningelementaryandmiddle-schoolteachersfromdiscussingsexualactivitythatisnot“relatedtonaturalhumanreproduction”(Ford,2013;McDonough,2013;StaffReports,2013).Inthelightofsuchfailed,yetrepressiveandhomophobicefforts,howarethestate’sschool,public,andacademiclibrariesrepresentingtheneedsandconcernsoflesbian,gay,bisexual,transgenderandqueer(LGBTQ)peopleinprovidingwebaccessandcoverageofinformationrelatedtothismarginalizedpopulationinaregionthatproudlyidentifiesitselfasthebuckleoftheconservativeBible-beltintheUnitedStates.
ThispaperpresentsfindingsfrombroaderdoctoralresearchintotheprovisionofLGBT-relatedfictiontochildrenandyoungpeopleinEnglishpubliclibraries.Thestudyseekstoinvestigatewhetherthismaterialisprovidedandfactorsaffectingprovision,includingtheattitudesandopinionsoflibrariansinvolvedinchildren’sandyoungpeople’sstockprocurement.

国际图联拉丁美洲和加勒比地区组（IFLALAC）的筹备工作始于1974年11月的“西班牙语国家图书馆计划”的前期研讨会，该计划是为西班牙语国家的图书馆员开办的，由国际图联组织、联合国教科文组织资助。在该研讨会前夕，华盛顿第40届国际图联总理事会会议召开之际，国际图联拉丁美洲和加勒比地区工作组正式成立。该工作组由21位来自拉美和加勒比地区13个国家的图书馆员组成。

2021年8月17日下午3:00，第86届国际图联（IFLA）大会（WLIC2021）正式开幕，这是IFLA大会有史以来第一次在线上召开。今年的主题是“让我们一起为未来而努力”（Let’sworktogetherforthefuture），听上去有点提振士气喊口号的味道了。其实主要还是号召大家以国际图联全球愿景——创新（LibrariesInnovate）、包容（LibrariesInclude）、可持续发展（LibrariesSustain）、激励（LibrariesInspire）、赋能（LibrariesEnable）——为基石，在全球范围内团结起来，践行一致的目标和价值观。
紧接着国际图联年会开幕式之后，是图联当选主席芭芭拉·里森与世界城市和地方政府联盟（UCLG）协调官乔迪·帕斯克之间的对话，UCLG秘书长也参与了对话。
