1.表示强调的连接词
【例】Thelossincreasedto￡2mbytheendofthelastseason.Obviouslyweneedtofigureoutwhatwentwrongwithourplan.上一季度的亏损达到了两百万英镑，显然我们应该想想究竟计划出了什么问题。
2.表示比较的连接词
这类词的前后句往往是并列比较的关系，常用的有like,similarly,likewise,inthesameway,inthesamemanner,equally等
【例】Carloswouldnotgiveupuntilhehashisrevenge.Likewise,BillwillnotstopuntilhekillsCarlos.卡洛斯不实现复仇就绝不会放弃。同样地，比尔一定要杀掉卡洛斯才会停手。
3.表示对比的连接词
这类词之后的句子往往与前文是对比关系，如bycontrast,onthecontrary,while,incontrast等

4.表示列举的连接词

6.表示顺序的连接词
【例】Firstofall,ShanghaiisthelargestcityinChina.Secondly,itisalsothefinancialcenterofmainlandChina.首先，上海是中国最大城市。第二，它也是中国大陆的金融中心。
7.表示可能的连接词
这类词一般表示推测，意为“可能”probably,perhaps,maybe等
【例】Hehasn’tcomehomeyet,maybeheisstillatwork.他还没回家，可能还在工作。
8.用于解释的连接词
这类词一般解释上文出现的名词或概念，常用的有inotherwords,infact,asamatteroffact,thatis,namely,insimplerterms等
【例】Shefoundalittlehelperwithherhousework,thatis,amaid.她给自己找了一个家务小帮手，就是一名女佣。
9.表示递进的连接词
表递进的连接词也是非常常用的连接词，在文中起承上启下的作用，如whatismore,inaddition,and,besides,also,furthermore,too,moreover,furthermore,aswellas,additionally,again等
【例】Shelefthim,What’smore,shetookallthemoneywithher.她离开了他，还带走了所有钱。
10.表示让步的连接词
这类词一般意为“即使”、“尽管”，需要注意的是，英语里有了“虽然”后不能加“但是“，这点跟汉语不同，是很多人容易犯错的地方，常用的有although,afterall,inspiteof...,despite,evenif,eventhough,though等
【例】Althoughyouhavelost￡100,theimportantthingisyouhaveyourgrandfather’swatchback.虽然你损失了100英镑，但重要的是你拿回了爷爷的表。
11.表示转折的连接词
这类词的使用频率也比较高，意为“但是”、“然而”，包括however,ratherthan,insteadof,but,yet,ontheotherhand,unfortunately,conversely,differentfrom,nevertheless,otherwise,whereas,unlike等
【例】Shecouldhavetoldyouthetruth.Instead,sheliedtoeveryone.她本可以告诉你真相的，然而她却骗了所有人。
12.表示原因的连接词
这些词都是表示原因，解释前文的结果，常用的有forthisreason,dueto,thanksto,because,becauseof,as,since,owingto等
【例】Owingtothecomplexsituationofthecompany,Idon’tthinkyoushouldleaveatthismoment.因为现在公司的情况很复杂，所以我认为你不应该这个时候走。
13.表示结果的连接词
常用的表示结果的连词有：asaresult,thus,so,accordingly,consequently,asaconsequence等

14.用于总结的连接词
