DoubleFeaturedescribesitselfas‘themoviegameforeveryone’,inthesensethatplayersneedonlycomearmedwithknowledgeofthefilmsthey’veseen.
Theaimofthegameistonameafilmwhichlinkstogetherthetwocategorycardsplayedeachround.Thesixcategoriescanrangefromcharactersandpropstoscenesandsettings,witheachfeaturingsomebrieftextonthecard’sreverse.
Eachroundthe‘director’willchooseanewcategorycardtoreplaceapreviouslyscoredone,addingittothetable.Uponreadingthetwocardsplayersmustthenracetonameafilmwhichthe‘director’deemsworthyoflinkingthetwocategories.Forexample,onecardmightread‘InNewYork,Chicago,orLosAngeles’andtheotherstating‘There’sadreamorfantasysequence’,withoneplayershouting“TheBigLebowski!”forthepoint.

TheterribledrawingsandspeedyguessesattheheartofPictionaryarestillthere,buteveryrulearoundthatcarefullyimprovesontheclassic.Ratherthantakingitinturns,everyonegetstodrawsimultaneously,andyoudon’tneedtobethefastesttobeabletoguessateveryoneelse’s–you’lljustgetmorepointsifyou’rethefirstcorrectguess.

Eachplayerholdsjustfourcards,threeflowersandoneskull,takingitturnstoplaceoneface-downinfrontofthem,untilsomeonemakesachallenge:thenumberofflowerstheythinktheycanturnup,startingwiththeirown,withouthittingaskull.Thetablethengetsachancetooutbidtheirclaimwiththeirownchallenge,beforeit’sgo-time.Turnupthatnumberofflowers,andyou’rehalfwaytovictory;hitaskull,andyouloseoneofyourpreciouscardsandedgeclosertoelimination.
