科室每年承担北京大学医学部学生理论授课、见习和实习带教工作。多人获得过北京大学医学部优秀教师奖和北京大学第三医院优秀教师奖。共培养研究生30余人。科室有多人在各种学会任职。连续举办十一届全国疑难重症风湿病学术会议，培养进修专科医师数十名。
近年来科室作为国家自然科学基金基础科学中心项目骨干单位，共承担国家自然科学基金课题13项，北京市自然科学基金2项。共发表包括SCI在内的中英文论著200余篇，其中包括Nature、Cell、NatureReviewsRheumatology、Lancet子刊等，主编了《风湿免疫疾病诊疗手册》、《图表式临床风湿病学》、《类风湿关节炎》、《风湿病分册》等40余多部风湿病专著。我科也是较早获批的国家临床药理实验基地，可承接I-IV期临床药物试验，有完善的运行机制和受试者保护措施。
DepartmentofRheumatologyandImmunologyofPekingUniversityThirdHospitalwasestablishedinOctober2006.Honestperson,seriouswork,unity,honesty,effortandinnovationarethesloganoftheDepartment.After17yearsofdevelopment,therearemorethan30medicalstaff,including2chiefphysicians,3deputychiefphysicians,1deputychiefnurse,5attendingphysicians.Atpresent,thedepartmenthassetupspecialclinicsforRaynaudPhenomenonandSystemicsclerosis,RheumatoidArthritis,SystemicLupusErythematosus,Spinalarthritis,Psoriaticarthritisandgout,andleadstworarediseasetreatmentteamsforsystemicsclerodermaandIgG4-relateddiseases.Thedepartmenthasrepeatedlywonthehospital"excellentmanagementproject","qualityserviceadvancedcollective","qualitynursingadvancedcollective"andothercommendations.
Thedepartmentundertakestheoreticalteaching,internshipandpracticeteachingforstudentsofPekingUniversityHealthScienceCentereveryyear.ManyofthemhavewontheOutstandingTeacherAwardofPekingUniversityHealthScienceCenterandtheOutstandingTeacherAwardofPekingUniversityThirdHospital.Morethan30graduatestudentshavebeentrained.Therearemanypeopleinthedepartmentwhoserveinvarioussocieties.Ithascontinuouslyheld11nationalacademicconferencesondifficultandsevererheumatism,andtraineddozensofspecialists.
Inrecentyears,asthebackboneunitoftheBasicScienceCenteroftheNationalNaturalScienceFoundation,thedepartmenthasundertaken13projectsoftheNationalNaturalScienceFoundationand2projectsoftheBeijingNaturalScienceFoundation.Hehaspublishedmorethan200literaturesinbothChineseandEnglishincludingSCI,includingNature,Cell,NatureReviewsRheumatology,Lancetsub-journals,etc.Hehaseditedmorethan40booksonrheumaticdiseases,suchasManualofDiagnosisandTreatmentofRheumaticandImmuneDiseases,GraphicClinicalRheumatology,RheumatoidArthritisandRheumaticDiseases.Ourdepartmentisalsoanearlierapprovednationalclinicalpharmacologicalexperimentalbase,whichcanundertakephaseI-IVclinicaldrugtrials,andhasasoundoperatingmechanismandsubjectprotectionmeasures.
