WhiletheattackerhadfracturedTao’slefthandandcausednervedamage,Taoremaineddedicatedtohislifelongpassiontohelpothers.Hesaidthatifhewereunabletoperformsurgery,hewoulddoresearchandmakecontributionstothepublicthroughactivitiessuchasleadingtoursforblindchildrenandtellingstoriesofthosewhohavefoughtbravelyagainstdisease.尽管袭医者砍断了陶勇的左手，导致神经受损。陶勇依然致力于自己毕生所爱——救死扶伤。他表示，如果自己不能重返手术台，他还会去做研究，通过组织盲童巡演、讲述与病魔勇敢搏斗的人们的故事等活动，为社会做贡献。
